In this century, honor of women is in grave danger. There are, of course, many reasons and causes behind this. Not only women, but the honor of men too is under risk, as a family shares a common prestige.

In this article, I will discuss mainly about what women should do to safeguard themselves. If you want to change something, then it starts from thy ownself.

O Prophet! Ask your wives, daughters, and believing women to draw their cloaks over their bodies. In this way it is more likely that they will be recognized ‘as virtuous’ and not be harassed. And Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Surah Al-Ahzaab, Ayat no 59

Whoever believes in the above verse and obeys it, trust me, Allah will protect your prestige, and you will not be abused, inshallah.

Some women seem to follow the trends of the women of Jahiliya period. The way of their hijab appears like it is to impress others. They even decorate their eyes, so they can look charismatic.

The Prophet (salla Allahu alayhi wasallam) stated,

There will be in the last of my Ummah, scantily dressed women, the hair on the top of their heads like a camel’s hump. Curse them, for verily they are cursed.

At-Tabarani and Sahih Muslim

Beware my sisters in Islam! Keep your dressing modest and try not to follow the modern trends, which are nothing initiations by non muslims, and imitating them is also prohibited.

Abu Hurairah (RA) relates that the Prophet (salla Allahu alayhi wasallam) said,

There are two categories among the inhabitants of Hell whom I have not encountered. The first are people who carry whips like the tails of cows and beat the people with them. The second are women, clothed yet naked, drawn to licentiousness and enticing others to it, their heads like the swaying humps of camels. They will neither enter Paradise nor even smell its fragrance, though its fragrance can be found to a great distance.

Sahih Muslim

Remember, your modesty should be for the sake of Allah and not to impress the world with it. What is more beautiful than having worthiness in the sight of Ar-Rahman!

“And He is Allah, [the only deity] in the heavens and earth. He knows your secret and what you make public, and He knows that which you earn.” [6:3]

Well, this is based on the rules of Shariah. If you start practicing this, trust me, your honor will be protected, inshallah.

We women must learn some special skills, and also how to use defense tools, etc. in order to protect our honor. The question however is, whether Islam allows you to fight off a person if they wanted to abuse you? So, the answer is yes! (See the Reference)

It says in Al-Mughni by Ibn Qudaamah al-Hanbali: Concerning a woman attacked by a man attempting to violate her honor and who killed him in self-defense, Ahmad said: “If she knew that he only attacked her to violate her honor and she killed him in the process of defending herself, then she bears no sin for that and is not liable for anything.”.

Ahmad mentioned the hadeeth which al-Zuhri reported from al-Qaasim ibn Muhammad, from Ubayd ibn Umayr, which said that ‘a man had visitors from [the tribe of] Hudhayl, and he wanted [to rape] a woman, so she threw a rock at him and killed him.’ Umar (RA) said, “By Allaah, there is no diyah for him ever” i.e., she did not have to pay the blood money for him.

If it is permissible to defend one’s money, which one can give away, then a woman defending and protecting herself and her honor which cannot be given away, is clearly more permissible than a man defending his money. If this is clear, then she is obliged to defend herself if she can, because letting someone overpower her [rape her] is haraam, and by not defending herself, she lets him overpower her.

Al-Mughni, 8/331

According to the 50 signs about the day of judgement, there comes a sign that is –

Now, in order to protect ourselves ,I have already stated some precautions, but that is not all. What has blinded us is the lack of knowledge about Islam. We, generally, do not know whether the step we are taking is right or wrong.

For example, the social media is the major cause of all this destruction. If I am not wrong, about 97-98% men never lower their gaze. They have a severe kind of interest in these actresses and tiktokers. This leads them to trespass and insinuates them to have evil thoughts. Many innocent kids are victims of social media. It means, their hearts are fearless from Allah. Not only media, but bad company of friends is also one of the major causes.

The step which should be taken is a major one. Parents should have to be cautious about their child from the very initial stage of the child’s life till his/her marriage. They should observe their every activity. Even a single word which they pronounce, should not be ignored. As children are the future of our nation.

In this century, social media is one of the major tribulations. It is now out of control.

Muslim men should lower their gaze while passing by women, and Muslim women should avoid intermixing with men. The women should travel with a mahram (incase of long journeys). They should not such fields of work, where there are improper and un-Islamic uniforms. They have the right to dream or aim. But, being a believer, one’s actual aim is to please Almighty Allah, and to leave every un-Islamic desire for the sake of Allah. As, this life is a prison for a believer and heaven for a non believer.

I will also suggest that Muslim countries should ban Co-education system. As we all know that evil is increasing through this system.

People should avoid negative thoughts and illicit acts. They should distance themselves from the negativity of Social Media, which ruins the minds of many innocent kids and adults.

We should also research carefully about the products which are imported from Non-muslim countries. Indulging in import and export of products, without properly testing them is something I consider half-witted. Products, these days, have labels with E-codes. Each E-code should be properly verified and only those 100% halal should be passed. Everything containing haram ingredients must be banned. There are effects of the things which we eat. And we know pig is a shameless animal.

All Muslims and Islamic countries should ponder over this, before it gets too late.
